Red Dot is a public event hosted by the Individual Artists of Oklahoma, a 501c3 nonprofit, that helps support a community-oriented programming schedule at the IAO throughout the year. For 24 years Red Dot has provided artists an exhibition venue and art buyers a fun atmosphere in which to add to their art collection.

 

2015’s Red Dot has a very special purpose. Eighty percent of the funds raised after expenses will go directly to individual artist grants, which directly impact local, Oklahoma artists of all disciplines, providing them with the resources they need to create and grow.

The exhibit, titled Evanescence, was comprised of a series

of monotype prints by artist Stacey D. Miller.

The common theme of the hummingbird signifies the

fragility of life and how quickly it can flee. Of the theme,

Miller says, "The prints came to life almost immediately

after the passing of my grandmother, a loss that had

more impact on me than I could have expected." After the

loss, Miller searched for solitude to reflect on life and her

memories. She found it in the art studio
